Plot:
"Gladiator II" is set 16 years after the original film, focusing on Lucius Verus Aurelius, who has been exiled from Rome and now lives in Numidia. After his home is conquered by the tyrannical twin emperors Caracalla and Geta, Lucius is forced to become a gladiator in Rome. His journey involves vengeance for his wife's death, navigating the political intrigues of Rome, and seeking to restore the glory of Rome to its people. He is trained by Macrinus, a former slave who has his own ambitions for power. Lucius's story parallels that of Maximus from the first film, seeking to overthrow corrupt rulers while finding his own path to honor and justice.

Characters:
Lucius Verus Aurelius (Paul Mescal): The protagonist, exiled prince of Rome turned gladiator.
Macrinus (Denzel Washington): A former slave who now controls gladiators and has political aspirations.
Marcus Acacius (Pedro Pascal): A Roman general with ties to Lucius's family.
Lucilla (Connie Nielsen): Returning from the first film, Lucius's mother, caught in the political machinations of Rome.
Emperors Geta (Joseph Quinn) and Caracalla (Fred Hechinger): The villainous twin rulers of Rome.
Derek Jacobi returns as Senator Gracchus.
