Trusting God’s Timing and Living His Love
________________________________________
Introduction
Welcome to today’s episode, where we explore the themes of divine timing, the depth of Christ’s love, and our call to reflect that love in the world. Drawing on the wisdom of St. Vincent de Paul, the Gospel of John, and the reflections of Fr. Ralph Gorman, we will consider how God’s plans unfold in His perfect time and how we are invited to remain in His light.

Segment 1: Trusting God’s Timing
St. Vincent de Paul reminds us of a crucial truth:
"The works of God are not accomplished when we wish them, but whenever it pleases Him."
How often do we grow frustrated when our prayers seem unanswered, or events don’t unfold as we hoped? St. Vincent’s words are a gentle reminder to trust in God’s providence. His timing is not ours, and His wisdom surpasses our understanding.
In moments of waiting, we are called to surrender our impatience and align our will with God’s. This surrender doesn’t mean passivity but a faithful trust that His plans, executed in His time, are for our ultimate good.

Segment 2: The Betrayal of Judas A Contrast Between Light and Darkness
Fr. Ralph Gorman paints a vivid scene at the Last Supper:
"One can well imagine St. John watching in stunned silence as Judas rose from his place after receiving the morsel from Jesus and started to leave. As he passed through the doorway, John caught a glimpse of the darkness that seemed to envelop Judas like a cloak. The outer darkness contrasted sharply with the light of the supper room. John is evidently struck by the contrast, because he adds: 'It was night.' This brief sentence of John's makes a profound impression."
The image of Judas leaving the light of the supper room to enter the darkness symbolizes the gravity of turning away from Christ. Judas chose his own desires over the light of God’s love, stepping into spiritual and physical darkness.
How often do we face this same choice in our own lives? The world tempts us to step away from Christ’s light into the shadows of sin. But even in these moments, God’s mercy is abundant. Unlike Judas, we have the opportunity to repent and return to the light.

Segment 3: The Call to Love One Another
The Apostle John, the same witness to Judas’s betrayal, offers a beautiful reflection on love in his first letter:
"In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as expiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another. No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us."
God’s love for us is not a response to our actions but a freely given gift. This divine love is the foundation of our faith and our call to love one another. To love as God loves requires patience, humility, and sacrifice.
When we remain in His love, we become vessels of His light in the world, counteracting the darkness that enveloped Judas. Each act of love and kindness we offer brings God’s love closer to perfection in us and those around us.

Segment 4: Living in God’s Light and Love
As Catholics, we are called to reflect the light of Christ in a world often shrouded in darkness. This requires:
1. Trusting God’s Timing: As St. Vincent de Paul reminds us, His works are accomplished in His time, not ours.
2. Remaining in the Light: Like John, we must be vigilant not to let sin draw us away from the light of Christ.
3. Loving as God Loves: John’s words challenge us to love one another as God has loved us—unconditionally and sacrificially.
By trusting, remaining, and loving, we participate in God’s divine plan and help to dispel the darkness in our lives and the world.

Conclusion Prayer
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of Your Son, who came into the world as the light of men. Help us to trust in Your perfect timing, even when we do not understand Your ways.
Lord Jesus,
You are the light that no darkness can overcome. Protect us from the temptations that would draw us into sin, and give us the grace to remain steadfast in Your love.
Holy Spirit,
Fill our hearts with divine charity, so that we may love one another as You have loved us. May our lives reflect the light of Christ and bring hope to those in darkness.
We ask this through the intercession of Our Lady, the perfect model of trust, light, and love, and in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
