India’s Former PM, Economist Dr. Manmohan Singh Passes Away; PM Modi Pays Tribute

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his last respects to former Indian PM and renowned economist Dr. Manmohan Singh. In his condolence message, PM Modi said, “The demise of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has deeply pained all of us. His departure is a great loss for us as a nation. Coming to India after losing so much in the Partition and achieving success in every field of life here is not a normal thing. His life will continue to teach the future generation how to achieve heights by rising above deprivations and struggles.” 92-year-old Dr. Singh passed away on Dec. 26 after being admitted for age-related illness at AIIMS Delhi. He governed India for two terms and has served as the Finance Minister when he played a pivotal role in India's journey towards achieving liberalisation and privatisation.
