WBJEE: What WEST BENGAL's Engineering Aspirants Must Know About?

West Bengal Engineering Admission Test Overview

• Admission to UG Engineering Courses in West Bengal is through West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WB-JEE).
• Around 94 colleges/universities participate in WB-JEE, conducted in over 50 cities.
• Eligibility criteria include being a citizen of India, having passed 10+2 with Physis and Maths, Chemistry or Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, Computer Application or Technical Vocational Subject, minimum marks, and English in 10+2.
• Residential or domicile criteria include continuous residence in West Bengal for at least 10 years, permanent residency of West Bengal parents, and valid Category Certificate.
• Domicile criteria apply to any seat in Govt. aided Engineering or Technology Colleges, B.Tech in West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences, 90% of General Category Seats in Jadavpur University, Reserved Category Seats, and Aliah University.
• Candidates from other states can apply, but domicile of West Bengal is mandatory for admission into Government Engineering & Technology Colleges.
• Seats reserved for children of Defence Personnel are around 10-15 seats, but candidates must secure a General Merit Rank in WB-JEE.
• Tuition Fee waiver for meritorious and economically backward domiciled students of West Bengal is only for Tuition Fee, subject to a maximum limit in Annual Family Income from all resources.
• Counselling process involves registration, payment of Counselling Fee, Seat Acceptance Fee, document verification, and report to the College.
• Three rounds of counselling are held: Allotment, Upgradation & Mop-Up Rounds.
• After Seat Allotment, candidates must pay the Seat Acceptance Fee and opt for Freeze, Upgradation or Withdrawl choices.
• All registered candidates are eligible except for debarred & withdrawn candidates.
• Basic documents for verification include Class 10 Admit Card or Birth Certificate, Class 10 & 12 Marksheets/Certificates, Certificates of OCI, Domicile, Category, PwD & TFW, WBJEE/JEE Main Result Card, WB-JEE Confirmation Page & Option Form for Upgradation.
