My Indonesian street food tour begins in Kota Medan (kota means city :D); this is the start of a journey across the Sumatra Island, exploring traditional indonesian cuisine, from street food to warungs to formal restaurant and homemade cuisine.

In this first vlog ever in Indonesia I try a very common Indonesian street food: Ayam Penyet! This is one of the most juicy and tender fried chicken I've ever tried and the reason lies in the recipe! Ayam Penyet means "crushed fried chicken" because it is in fact crushed with a mortar before being deep fried. It is usually coupled with rice, sambal and some side veggies.
Even if the dish is simple, the process of crushing the chicken really does change the texture of it and I've loved it!

Next we go try a very interesting drink, Bandrek, which is essentially a ginger tea infusion, sometimes mixed with condensed milk to give it a nice and creamy taste. Unexpectedly we were also served with this some shellfish skewers in a spicy sauce (sate kerang) which I did not reject at all!
Stay tuned for more food vlogs in Sumatra!

This is a travel for food channel and I enjoy eating street food around the world! Eating street food from different countries is what keeps me alive :D
