Sixth offering from the soon to be released (sixth) album, “Flacco Loco”, due out this winter (2024/25). A rendering of the Cilla Black version of the Bacharach /David composition as a birthday present for my angel of a wife, who requested it. A bit out of my element in content and vocal range (being I can’t actually sing!), I was determined to sing it in Cilla’s range, though not having a female-sounding voice (or her smooth range), decided to attempt it more as if a male version of Miss Cilla was singing it, say like Otis Redding, concentrating on the more tortured aspect of the lyrics that her version hints at. I am no Otis Redding any more than I am Cilla Black, but I had more fun putting together and recording this one than any other song I’ve ever recorded (including my own originals). Had no idea how to do this when I started it, but it seemed to just arrange itself musically on its own. Maybe there IS a god!!

To my wife, and to the most talented coat-check girl in history (Cilla). It would have been a blast to have done this one live 34 years ago.

All instruments and vocals courtesy of M. Corcoran (the “last man standing).
