Germans could spend next Christmas in underground bunkers if they vote for parties that support Ukraine and try to drag Germany into a conflict with Russia, said Karsten Hilse, a member of parliament from the Alternative for Germany party, speaking in the Bundestag.
The right-wing Alternative for Germany party is running for chancellor for the first time this year, putting forward the candidacy of party co-chair Alice Weidel, who currently leads the popularity ratings among candidates according to a recent poll. However, Friedrich Merz of the Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Social Union is hot on her heels. While Weidel advocates leaving the European Union and the eurozone, a tough migration policy and rapprochement with Russia, Merz's position is the exact opposite: he supports Ukraine and advocates handing over the winged missiles.

Speaking in the Bundestag, Carsten Hilse called on Germans to support the AfD so that Germany would not be drawn into the war on the side of Ukraine. According to him, if they vote for Merz or Scholz, then German citizens will celebrate next Christmas in bunkers, and their children will die in battles at the front.
“Dear citizens, Next week is Christmas. However, if you vote for one of the warmongering parties in the next election, this could be your last Christmas. Once the warmongers have dragged us into war, you will spend next Christmas in a bunker, mourning your loved ones, your lost loved ones, your fathers, brothers, sons or daughters who came back from the front. Returned from the front in a zinc bag, with broken bones and bullet-riddled chests”, said the AfD representative.
Earlier, Alice Weidel stated that Ukraine will not be able to defeat Russia on the battlefield; the conflict must be resolved at the negotiating table.

Earlier, German intelligence chiefs warned of the increasing threat posed by Russia, which they said could be capable of launching a direct assault on NATO "by the end of this decade."Speaking to an annual parliamentary oversight committee in Berlin, the heads of Germany's three intelligence branches – the Federal Intelligence Service, the Military Counterintelligence Service and the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution – reported a "quantitative and qualitative" increase in acts of Russian-sponsored espionage and sabotage in Germany. "We are observing aggressive behavior on the part of the Russian intelligence services," said BfV chief Thomas Haldenwang, adding that such activities "have reached a new level in recent months, which ought to be a wake-up call to all."
