Watch this amazing two-for-one video as we review the Marble Canyon Campground in Kootenay National Park and the hike the entire self-guided trail up the Marble Canyon.

Marble Canyon Campground is open from late June to early September & is located high in a sub-alpine spruce forest with spectacular views of the mountains. The campground has 60 campsites & offers services like drinking water, sani-dump, flush toilets, fire pits, cooking shelters & food lockers. This is an excellent base for the extensive mountain trail system in the northern part of Kootenay National Park. The self-guided interpretive trails to Marble Canyon and the culturally significant Paint Pots are easily accessed from the campground.

Sites are unserviced and best suited for tenting, and small motorhomes and trailers under 15 feet.

Marble Canyon is just above the Tokumm Creek and its confluence with the Vermilion River, at the north end of Kootenay National Park in the Canadian Rockies of British Columbia, Canada. The Tokumm Creek joins Vermillion River through a magnificent gorge, or box canyon, so narrow that at several places the fissure, for it seems little more than a crack in the rock strata, is bridged by great boulders that have become wedged across it. It's a MUST-SEE feature in Kootenay National Park

A major new find was announced in early 2014 of fossilized Cambrian soft-bodied organisms in or near Marble Canyon that rival or even surpass the nearby Burgess Shale fossil site in size and preservation. The report said that 22% of the observed species found in the initial excavation were new to science. Additionally, several species previously known only from Chinese Lagerstätten, created millions of years earlier, were also found at the site. The exact location of the site was kept confidential to avoid damage to the site.
