Proposed fire tax concerns businesses in Immokalee
6 years ago
Some businesses in Immokalee are concerned over a proposed fire assessment fee that will be on the August 28 ballot. They believe the flat fee of $369 per home would be too much of a burden for people who live and work in the small farming community. But Immokalee's fire chief said that their current revenues aren't enough to sustain his department, and that if the proposal isn't passed, some of his firefighters would eventually have to be laid off.
