US President-elect Donald Trump says he will end "transgender lunacy" once he takes office in January. Speaking in Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday, the president-elect vowed to create policies to only recognise two genders, male and female. In an apparent reference to gender-affirming surgery, Trump said he would end the mutilation of children with a stroke of his pen. Now, this is not the first time that the Republican leader has railed off against transgender rights in the United States. He aggressively ran a television advertisement during his election campaign, mocking Vice President Kamala Harris for her support of transgender rights.
