The United States government avoided a shutdown after a back-and-forth in Congress over a spending package. The initial package was 1,547 pages long and was blocked from passing mainly by Republicans after Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy with the incoming DOGE department accused it of pork barrel items like raises to Congress members, a new football stadium, and other spending that they argued should not be on the table when the nation is in debt. President-elect Donald Trump then called on Republicans to begin taking a harder stance. This eventually worked things down to a much smaller 118 pages of spending, with mixed praise and criticism from both sides of the aisle.

We’ll discuss this topic, and others, in this episode of Crossroads.
