This Christmas, we are stepping into something fresh, something new—a new wineskin season. As Christians, stepping into a new season means allowing God to transform us from the inside out so that we are prepared for the changes and challenges ahead. Times are changing, and we need to be ready to walk boldly into what God has for us.

Jesus spoke about new wineskins in Matthew 9:17 to explain that we cannot hold onto old ways and expect to thrive in the new thing God is doing. This Christmas, as we reflect on Christ’s birth—the ultimate beginning of a new season—we are also called to embrace the changes God is bringing to our lives.

Scripture 1: Matthew 9:17
“Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

Scripture 2: Isaiah 43:19
“Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

Scripture 3: 2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

Scripture 4: Romans 12:2
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Scripture 5: Ezekiel 36:26
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”

Scripture 6: Philippians 3:13-14
“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Scripture 7: Luke 5:38-39
“But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved. And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new; for he says, ‘The old is better.’”

Scripture 8: Ecclesiastes 3:1
“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.”

Scripture 9: Mark 2:21-22
“No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; or else the new piece pulls away from the old, and the tear is made worse. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”

Scripture 10: Revelation 21:5
“Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’ And He said to me, ‘Write, for these words are true and faithful.’”

This Christmas, let’s embrace the new wineskin season God is calling us into. Times are changing, and He is preparing us for a fresh outpouring of His Spirit. Let’s allow Him to renew our hearts, minds, and spirits so we can fully step into the new thing He is doing.
