Reject: A Super Superhero Story (part 49)

*As strong as DirLan is, one of the strongest beings on the planet, she soon finds she is no match for Reject. He tosses her aside as easily as he did every Caretaker in their armor, but DirLan is no Caretaker, no regular citizen of Mer, she is a princess, daughter of Kane Allura, and she does not back down even if the odds are stacked against her. She fights on, Reject not wanting to hurt her but deciding that knocking her out, and returning her to the sea from whence she came, might be a good idea. He lets her sink away, hoping only never to see her again, yet this action actually ends up being one of great service to DirLan. Underneath the waves she awakens only to blink and have to wake yet again. Any time a child of Kane Allura is in danger a certain psychic signal, something they cannot control, is immitted to let their father know they could die. It is why Kane reacted so violently at the deaths of many of his kids when Mer went to war, ages ago, against all the other lands nearby. He feels his children when they are in danger, and knows instantly when they die, their death's something he feels as well and can't forget. But this psychic signal can be picked up by others, those like Kane who once also carried the Eternal Flame, yet also beasts of darkness that should never be in our world. Sinking into the depths, DirLan wakes with first one, then many, of the Empty Kind swimming before her. These are creatures from between worlds who have been kept out of our world simply due to the Leviathan that blocked their entrance. Them swimming around means Leviathan has moved, is waking, and DirLan quickly rises with a few in tow to tell her father. Luckily, he too has arrived..her signal drawing him into a fight with Reject...and when he sees what she has brought he rushes down into depths only he can endure without armor. He scans where Leviathan has slept for eons and eons and finds that while just one tentacle of that beast has moved it is enough to let some Empty Kind in. He now believes Leviathan is waking after all, the end times are near [AI Art]*
