Ingredients:

Sushi rice

Nori (seaweed sheets)

Fillings (e.g., cucumber, avocado, imitation crab, or raw fish)

Bamboo sushi mat

Soy sauce and pickled ginger (for serving)

Steps:

1. Prepare the Rice: Cook sushi rice, then mix it with sushi vinegar. Allow it to cool.

2. Set up the Mat: Lay the bamboo mat on a flat surface and place a sheet of nori (shiny side down) on top.

3. Spread Rice: Wet your hands and evenly spread a thin layer of rice on the nori, leaving a 1-inch strip uncovered at the top.

4. Add Fillings: Place your desired fillings in a horizontal line about 1 inch from the bottom edge.

5. Roll the Sushi: Using the mat, tightly roll the nori and rice over the fillings. Press gently to form a cylinder.

6. Seal the Roll: Dab water on the uncovered nori strip and seal the roll.

7. Cut and Serve: Use a sharp knife to cut the roll into bite-sized pieces. Serve with soy sauce and pickled ginger.
