The Greenville County Sheriff's Office has released its report, 911 call and body camera video after deputies fatally shot a man who they say fired at shot at them during a standoff.

The sheriff's office said they got a 911 call around 9:45 p.m. on Nov. 4 for a person firing shots in the area of 3200 N. Highway 101 in Greer, Lt. Ryan Flood said at the time of the shooting.

According to Flood, deputies learned a nearby resident fired at another person who lived at the same home.

The victim was not injured and was able to get out of the house, Flood said.

According to Flood, the suspect was armed and barricaded inside of the home.

SWAT team members and negotiators responded to the home, Flood said.

In the new video report, Flood said gas was deployed into the suspect's home during the two-hour negotiations.

He said the suspect then fired a shot that almost struck negotiators on the scene.

Flood said the suspect then came outside with a shotgun and pointed it at deputies.

He said that is when two deputies fired their guns, hitting the suspect.

The suspect died on the scene, Flood said. He was identified as 62-year-old Rene Mercado Contreras.
