Can Tyson Fury Use the Wilder Gameplan to Stop Oleksandr Usyk?

14

In a recent interview with iFL TV, Tyson Fury says he's not playing around this time, and that he's gonna end Oleksandr Usyk's career. The once unbeaten Heavyweight giant has tasted defeat for the first time in his career.

The man that he calls the rabbit put hands and foots on the Gypsy King. Usyk almost knocked Tyson out in the first matchup. Thankfully, the referee saved his life. Had the ref not stepped in, who knows what would have happened.

Fury looks as though he's added more weight in this fight, looking to impose his will on Usyk. The only problem with that is this. Size isn't going to work on Oleksandr the way it worked on Deontay Wilder.

Usyk has the best footwork in the Heavyweight division. The way he works angles is insane. His only weakness is to the body. Tyson Fury weakness is his chin and lack of defense at time.

If Fury decides to be overly aggressive, to impose his size advantage on Usyk the way he did Deontay Wilder, he'll be playing into Usyk's hands. Fury tried to impose his size on Usyk in the last fight in the clinch, and we see how that worked out.

Usyk worked the angles in the clinch with Fury and didn't allow him to hold him, lean on him the way Fury did Wilder. Oleksandr doesn't have the limitation that Wilder has.

Usyk is a mid range fighter. He gives you different looks at mid range, and he works the weakside very well when setting up the straight left down the pike.

Every time Tyson Fury tried to grab Usyk in the clinch, Usyk turned him and violently broke away from Fury, while landed punches with his free hand. Usyk is a well conditioned fighter, something that Wilder was not.

Tyson Fury was the betting favorite in the first bout. Usyk is slightly favored in this bout. I expect Fury to be a lot more aggressive this time around. If he does, he's going to walk into a trap and possible get TKO'ed by Oleksandr.

Fury has great faints, Usyk has great faints as well. For Tyson to win he's gonna have to out think Usyk, bully ball won't work. The Deontay Wilder strategy won't work.

Fury tends to fade in later rounds. If Fury doesn't get the stoppage early that he so desires, he's in trouble. Usyk likes to pick up the pace in the championship rounds. As their fight goes on he get's stronger.

For Fury to win, he's gonna have to impose his size on the shorter, smaller man. If that doesn't work, he's gonna have to try to out box him. That's something no one in the heavyweight division has been able to do.

I'm picking Usyk by late TKO stoppage in this bout. Why? Because I believe Tyson Fury's game plan will play into what Usyk's team are training for. The bigger man trying to impose his physical size on the smaller guy.
