Crowd crush kills 35 children at funfair in Nigeria, police say

At least 35 children were killed and six critically injured in a crowd crush at a funfair in Ibadan, southwest Nigeria.

Police arrested eight people, including the event’s sponsor, over the tragedy, which occurred at an Islamic school’s event organized by Women in Need of Guidance and Support (WING).

The event aimed to host 5,000 children with prizes like scholarships.

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde expressed condolences and pledged accountability.

The case is under investigation by the homicide department, CNN has reported.
