What did you eat today?

Oppression impacts the very fibre of your being, such that your resistance can be something as simple as changing the most innocent of questions, out of love and sincere desire to reduce pain.

A simple change to inculcate a sense of community, versus asking something which only highlights the pain. Because in truth … how the heck can they possibly be? How does one describe the state of trauma of this ONGOING level?

So… “what did you eat?” becomes a means to focus that love.

It is also a reminder of how resistance is often built on the quiet, unseen labor of love. Preparing meals, sharing bread, gathering around food—these are acts that preserve culture, nurture community, and defy the dehumanization that colonialism imposes…even when it is severely restricted.
