Kennedy wants to lift immunity from vaccine manufacturers

The new US Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. plans to lift the immunity of vaccine manufacturers so that people who have been harmed by vaccines can sue the companies. In an interview with *The Young Turks*, excerpts of which were shared on social media, Kennedy said he wants to hold manufacturers liable for vaccine injuries to ensure the safety of the products.

He criticized the current situation in which companies cannot be sued, regardless of negligence or severity of harm, because they enjoy immunity. This immunity was extended until 2029 under President Biden's administration and protects not only manufacturers but also medical staff and hospitals that administer flu vaccines.

Kennedy sees the lifting of immunity as a necessary step to enforce responsibility and safety in vaccine production. In contrast, the Biden administration's measure was extended on the grounds that the risk of a coronavirus emergency could continue to exist in the coming years.
