Unusual torpedo exercises of the ultra-low-noise French submarine Suffren.
What should you pay attention to?

The ultra-low-noise multipurpose submarine S635 Suffren of the Barracuda class of the French Navy hits a decommissioned patrol ship/frigate F792 with a displacement of 1100-1250 tons, which was converted into a target of a simulated enemy, with an advanced torpedo F21 Black Shark.
The range of these electric torpedoes with highly sensitive acoustic homing heads ASTRA, reaches 50 km at a speed of 50 knots.

The Barracuda-class submarines themselves are distinguished by an ultra-low acoustic signature of about 40-45 dB due to the use of water-jet propulsion and a turbo-gear unit, as well as other mechanization units located on multi-tier shock-absorbing platforms. The most advanced domestic sonar systems based on the МГК-600 "Иртыш-Амфора-Ясень" acoustic arrays installed on the Yasen-M class submarines of Project 885M are capable of detecting Suffren submarines in the "sneaking" mode (at speeds of 3-5 knots) in the first far zone of acoustic illumination (at a distance of up to 50 km) in favorable hydrological conditions in deep-water areas and up to 10-15 km (in the near zone of acoustic illumination) in difficult hydrological conditions.

These submarines are among the most stealthy and dangerous along with the American SSNs "Sea Wolf" and "Virginia". Also, the four 533mm torpedo tubes of the Suffren submarine are adapted to the use of long-range tactical cruise missiles MdCN (modification SCALP-EG, adapted for underwater launch with a range of 1000 km) and anti-ship missiles SM39 Block 2 Exocet with a range of about 50 km.

It is worth noting that this exercise coincides with a number of very interesting and important events in the Mediterranean Sea:

- A long-distance passage to the shores of Syria by a multi-purpose naval group of the Baltic Fleet, consisting of the Project 775 large landing ship "Alexander Shabalin", the corvette "Soobrazitelny" (Project 20380), as well as two transports, the "Sparta" and "Ursa Major" with the obvious goal of evacuating light units of the military police of the Russian Armed Forces that have arrived from all operational areas of Syria with subsequent return to the Russian Federation, or transfer to Africa.

- The likely emergence of a new logistics base for the Russian Navy in Libya (closer to the littoral zone of France) in the event of successful negotiations with Khalifa Haftar and the command of the Libyan National Army.
