Amenemhat I - Founder of the 12th Dynasty of Egypt

Amenemhat I was the first king of the 12th Dynasty of Egypt. His ascension to the throne also represents the beginning of the Middle Kingdom Period, which includes both the 12 and 13th dynasty. Significant developments during his reign included the re-establishment of the custom of building pyramids, and the introduction of the co-regency. He began his career (supposedly) as the vizier to Mentuhotep IV, and his career ended with his assassination inside the royal palace.
