World Champion D Gukesh Welcomed with Massive Chennai Road Show | First Sports With Rupha Ramani

Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh returned to his hometown, Chennai, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu after winning the FIDE Chess World Championship in Singapore. India’s Gukesh beat China’s Ding Liren to win the title, and also became the youngest-ever chess player to win the world championship at the age of just 18. Upon returning to India, chess fans flocked to meet Gukesh. The chess star was also felicitated again by Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister MK Stalin at a special ceremony. Joining Gukesh and the Chief Minister was Indian chess legend Vishwanathan Anand. However, controversy erupted when Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu congratulated Gukesh and hailed his Telugu roots.
