Oman Blocks Indian Egg Imports Causing A Major Blow To Poultry Industry

Oman has stopped issuing new permits for importing Indian eggs, causing a major blow to the Namakkal poultry industry, which accounts for 95% of India's egg imports. Exports to Oman, which used to make up 50% of India’s egg trade, have dropped sharply from 11.4 crore to just 2.6 crore this year. Shipments worth Rs 15 crore are now stuck, with importers unable to clear them. Farmers and traders face huge losses, and MP Rajeshkumar has called for diplomatic action. This restriction comes soon after Qatar also limited Indian egg imports, deepening the crisis.
