The Washoe County Sheriff's Office has released body cam footage and more details from a shooting incident involving deputies where a man died.

It happened in the parking lot of the Raley's at the intersection of West 7th Street and Keystone Avenue on December 4th.

The Sheriff's Office says 40-year-old Jacob Taylor Lewis of Reno was pulled over around 11:05 a.m. after deputies confirmed he was wanted on felony charges of possessing, distributing, and using the internet to control child sexual abuse material involving a minor under the age of 16.

The warrant stemmed from an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation.

In the videos, deputies can be seen issuing multiple orders for Lewis to get out of the truck he was driving.

The Sheriff's Office said Lewis could be seen moving around inside the truck despite orders for him to stop. He can be heard in video saying he was undoing his seatbelt.

At around 11:07 a.m. a deputy on the passenger side of the truck saw Lewis raise a gun and fire it while inside the truck, according to the Sheriff's Office.

In the body cam footage, you can see the deputy on the driver's side back up and fire his own gun. The deputy on the passenger's side says the man in the truck shot himself when he fired the gun.

Negotiators and a Sheriff's Office armored vehicle arrived. Negotiators tried to talk Lewis out of the truck but got no response.

When the armored vehicle arrived, deputies used sponge rounds to help them see inside the truck, and the Sheriff's Office says deputies saw Lewis moving inside, making reaching motions.

A deputy stationed with the armored vehicle fired at Lewis again before deputies approached to check on his condition. They entered Lewis' truck and began rendering medical aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
