Muskogee Police Department released body camera footage of an officer-involved shooting.

Muskogee Police Department says this all started with a domestic abuse call they received last week.

"Unfortunately, in our line of work, there's never just another domestic call. You never know what's on the other side of the doors," said Johnny Teehee, the Chief of Police at Muskogee Police Department.

The call was about an abusive situation in a house on the east side of Muskogee.

"A female that lives in Kansas called our dispatch and said her mom was in that house and her stepdad, which is the suspect, was intoxicated, and he's got a gun and there was a domestic going on," said Deputy Chief Chad Farmer with Muskogee Police Department.

After Sergeant Brandon, Sergeant Hamlin, and Officer Cook arrived on the scene, shots were exchanged between an individual at the home and the officers.

"Our three officers fired approximately 20 rounds. They struck the suspect in the face and the pistol," said Farmer.

After being struck, the suspect went back into the house.

Police say that after numerous announcements and attempts to make contact by phone, the suspect Lee Paul Woods walked out on the front porch, and they took him into custody.

They say an ambulance transported him to a hospital in Tulsa, and he was scheduled to have surgery today.

He’s facing charges of domestic assault with a dangerous weapon and shooting with intent to kill.

One of the officers involved sustained a bruise on the front of his right thigh, but it’s unclear what caused it.
