Same Ole Republicans?
The Republicans have won the Presidency with President and the Senate and House. President Trump will no doubt be a strong positive force again, but will the Republicans be strong for a change, including supporting President Trump?
Republicans in the Senate and House haven't initiated anything positive since Newt Gingrich days, but they lasted only a couple of terms before the Republicans returned to business as usual. The debt continued to explode when Republicans had the House, Senate and Presidency under President Bush 43, and wouldn't go along with President Trump in his efforts to curtail spending and size of government. There are some Republicans today calling for a reduction in government and spending, but they are still in a small minority. Since Mitch McConnell became the Republican Leader, the national debt went from 8 trillion, an abomination the, to now approaching 37 trillion. Mitch McConnell has supposedly said that no one loses because they spend money. The guy is so irresponsible, all he cares about is power, not the good of the country.
And it goes on and on. Just today, Speaker Mike Johnson bragged about getting a bipartisan plan to pay for the government until March. They keep doing this, they are so afraid of shutting down about a third of the government because of how they think they will be treated by the media. Such weakness and cowardace. Many Republicans in the House and some in the Senate strongly criticized the extension. But it goes on and on with seemingly no apetite to stop the madness. It is obvious that the Republicans can't lead on their own, they have to have a strong leader, such as President Reagan or President Trump to get something done in Congress. It appears they will continue to be feckless. If they can't shut the government down now, when can they? They are a long way from the next election, and shutting down a small portion of the government has never hurt the Republicans, it has and will actually help them because they actually are trying to cut spending. Why is this so hard for them to grasp?
