Schools And Offices Remain Closed Amid Fuel Shortages In Iran; President Pezeshkian Apologises

Schools and offices in the Iranian capital, Tehran, and many other provinces will remain closed for the third consecutive day as several power plants have been shut down amid fuel shortages. Iran has been forced to ration electricity due to a lack of gas and fuel to feed the power plants. The dire situation comes amid cold weather across the country. Schools and offices have also been asked to remain closed in several provinces. The government has decided to reduce office hours until February 2025. Shopping centers are also ordered to close earlier than usual, and non-essential businesses have been asked to shut down. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian apologised to the nation for the shortages and promised they would be resolved by next year. He also urged people to lower their heating by two degrees amid the cold
