The Gospel of Luke 3

John the Baptist had baptized Jesus and after was praying, and the heaven was opened and the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, “Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”

John the Baptist had told them before Jesus was baptized, “One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” John was referring to Jesus is the Messiah the people were seeking.
