A very powerful cyclone has hit the island of Mayotte in the Indian Ocean and officials fear that thousands could be dead. Mayotte, an overseas French territory in the Mozambique channel, was struck by Cyclone Chido over the weekend. The Cyclone has caused widespread destruction on the island, causing major damage to the airport. Electricity, water, and communication lines have been cut off. Rescuers are racing against time to reach survivors. Cyclone Chido has also caused minor damage in Comoros and Madagascar.
