A surface-water based turbine system, Varun-III can harness power from even the smaller water bodies such as irrigation canals, rivulets or water streams with velocity as low as 0.7 meter per second. It is a reliable, sustainable and environment friendly technology that caters to the 24x7 electricity demand and can be beneficial for rural electrification and development of remote areas situated close to perennial water bodies, such as rivers, canals and streams.
