Day-106
RED COVE 🩸🐳🩸
#MelonHeadedWhales
The hunters moved as if they had found a pod about 50 minutes after leaving the harbor, and the formation was confirmed 30 minutes later. As expected, it is dangerous on sunny day with little wind and low waves.
Soon the pod was split in two, and today the larger group was being chased offshore by 3 bangers. This group was of course fleeing, but it seems that this was rather driven away to the sea.
This might be because there are always a large stock of frozen meat available, and if too many are caught, the selling price to markets will drop. In addition, it takes fuel to release them, so it seems that hunters want to drive them into the cove as much as they need.
I have seen one hunter says on an old YouTube or something that “We drive the pod into the cove while keeping it smaller”. I never trust the despicable hunters 100%, but it appears that sometimes they are not completely lying about.
If there are already several pods when the formation is confirmed, it seems reasonable to assume that they are not pursuing them at the same time, but rather they may be assessing the groups to drive into the Cove, breaking up the original large pod, and driving away the unwanted groups offshore.
Of course, we must not forget that there are certainly the facts that some or all of the groups have bravely escaped while the hunters were driving them so — as we have seen so far.
In fact, Kunito said that today it appeared as if the hunters had driven the large group out to sea early.
Unfortunately, today, the smaller group of Melon-headed whales was driven into the cove the hunters had planned to do so, and Kunito confirmed at least one small calf, but the hunters killed them all for meat and took them to slaughterhouse in the harbor. It was 12 in total.
We know from watching this hunting every single day that the Taiji hunters are not complying with their obligation to avoid mothers and calves. #ShameOnTaiji
