A new song has just been finished. It's about a park in which I spent a fair bit of my misspent youth. The park in question is Calderstones Park near Strawberry Field in South Liverpool.
The park has a fascinating history. Among other things it contains the Caulder or Calder stones, neolithic stones aged about 3000 years with neolithic carvings on them.
I walked past the park almost every day on my way back from school and spent a great deal of time there and around the park. A beautiful place with great and......strange memories! It also has the Allerton Oak in it or the Law Oak which is 1000 years old. You can watch a video of me reciting the Old English/ Anglo Saxon poem "Deor" in Old English beneath the Allerton Oak. This was the language that would have been spoken in England (Angloland) 1000 years ago, and around that area, which was all Anglo Saxon, when it was planted!!
