SHOCK Ultimatum From Syria Has Netanyahu Reeling!

Right, so all is not well any longer between Israel and the new Syrian administration of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, HTS and this might come as a bit of a surprise as this has been so badly reported, it actually happened 5 days ago, for 5 days, the new Syrian interim government has been kicking off at Israel and it’s actions in Syria, it’s invasion and this has led to a lot of people being left thinking this is all part of the plan, these HTS types and Israel are all in it together, and maybe that is because Israel thought they were, they did after all invade Syria with 24 hours of the Assad regime collapsing, Israel have been bombing the living daylights out of Damascus, targeting research facilities and arms dumps, without HTS firing a single shot back at them. Well as it turns out, if Israel don’t take heed to the warnings now being issued, they may well have ended up helping to bring about a government in Syria that is even worse news for them than they might have hoped they would be for the likes of Iran and Hezbollah and Hamas, because where Bashar al-Assad laughed off the idea of getting involved in war against Israel at it’s bottleneck border with them when he was in charge, HTS may not be so lenient.
Right, so how quickly things manage to sour around Benjamin Netanyahu and how little we’ve heard about this incident, where the Al-Qaeda leftovers now running Syria, HTS, have finally kicked off at Israel’s little invasion and land grabs and where we thought they were all in it together, it seems that only went so far and as always when Israel is given an inch though, an inch in the name of military assistance, aid, food, medicine to HTS to help them bring down the Assad regime, taking a mile as Netanyahu always does when given an inch has seen diplomatic ties unravel somewhat and Netanyahu might wish it hadn’t come to this, though perhaps this is all part of a grander plan ultimately too, but I’ll come back to that point in a moment.
Fundamentally whatever deal or agreement there was between Israel and HTS, seizing large chunks of Syria and occupying it evidently wasn’t part of the plan, and it seems that where Netanyahu has since day one of the end of the Assad regime said the Separation of Forces Agreement of 1974, the Armistice between Syria and Israel that had existed for 50 year was now null and void, it seems HTS disagree and in light of that, have sent a letter to the United Nations, not taking up arms against Israel still it has to be said, but now choosing the way of diplomacy as the acting government, by making a formal complaint about Israel’s conduct. All of a sudden they have more in common with the likes of the people of Gaza and Lebanon as all now share a common themes of having Israeli squatters where they don’t belong. The letter, submitted by Syria’s UN representative Ambassador Qusai al-Dahak to UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutteres reads:
‘To the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the Security Council.
On instructions from my Government, I would like to convey to you the following:
At a time when the Syrian Arab Republic is witnessing a new phase in its history in which its people aspire to a state of freedom, equality, social justice, the rule of law, peace and stability, the Israeli occupation army has escalated its ongoing aggression on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, in Jil al-Sheikh and Quneitra Governorate, causing damage to property and lives, and is still ongoing, targeting a number of civilian and military sites within Syrian territory.
The Syrian Arab Republic condemns in the strongest terms this Israeli aggression, which represents a serious violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, which was confirmed in Security Council Resolution No. 350 of 1974. It also constitutes a violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic, the unity and integrity of its territories, and contradicts the principles and Charter of the United Nations, the provisions of international law, and Security Council Resolutions 242, 338, and 497.
Syria renews its call on the United Nations and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities and take firm measures to compel Israel to immediately cease its ongoing attacks on Syrian territory, ensure that they are not repeated, and withdraw immediately according to the areas agreed upon in the Disengagement Agreement, and fully abide by the Disengagement Agreement and the mandate of the UNDOF.
I hope that this letter will be issued and circulated as a document of the Security Council and the 79th session of the General Assembly, within the framework of item No. 34 of its agenda entitled "The situation in the Middle East".’
UNDOF is an organ of the United Nations that I’ve not discussed previously and they haven’t come up in stories relating to the Syrian takeover by HTS either and actually it’s a good question to ask as to where UNDOF have been, because UNDOF is the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force and they are to the Syrian Israel border what UNIFIL is to the Israel Lebanon border. Observers ensuring that the agreements in place are adhered to, with UNIFIL upholding UN resolution 1701 where Israel is supposed to stay out and UNDOF ensure the integrity of that 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement. They are, it has to be said, a far smaller force, a little over 1000 of them and like UNIFIL it is a multinational force, though roughly a third of them are all from Nepal which I thought was rather random.
Where Israel have to stay below the so called Blue Line when it comes to Lebanon, in Syria it has been a purple line, across which are 44 permanently manned positions and 11 observation posts, but their status since Israel invaded is a bit up in the air since their lines got broken and Israel have been grabbing land like the clappers.
Now that letter was sent to the UN on the ninth of December, 2 days after Assad’s regime fell, so actually for as much as we here in the West have been under the impression they are besties with Israel and are all against Iran and Hezbollah and Hamas, Israel have been overreaching themselves with the decimation they’ve been carrying out and the land grabs they’ve conducted have been completely illegal. They also have no intention of abandoning the land they have grabbed before HTS could potentially do anything much to stop them and it doesn’t sound like Israel are planning on abandoning their new territory anytime soon, an excerpt from NBC making this point very clear in an article titled ‘Israel orders troops to remain in Syria buffer zone through winter’ and this carries a response from the UN in regards to that letter sent to them on behalf of the new Syrian government:
‘Israel ordered troops Friday to prepare to remain throughout winter on Mount Hermon — a strategic peak inside a buffer zone that has existed for decades with Syria but which Israeli forces have seized in the wake of the Assad regime's collapse…
It was the latest sign that Israel may maintain a presence in Syria for a prolonged period, defying international pressure to halt its advances and airstrikes as the world hopes to secure a peaceful transition in the country.
Israel has said that its actions in Syria are temporary and defensive, but backlash has grown over what United Nations chief António Guterres on Thursday called “extensive violations of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity" as he urged Israeli forces to withdraw from the buffer zone.
He also expressed concern over hundreds of Israeli strikes on locations across Syria following the toppling of the Assad regime, which Israel has said are aimed at preventing the regime’s arsenal falling into the hands of militants.
“Due to what is happening in Syria, there is a huge security importance to our holding of the Hermon peak and everything must be done to ensure the IDF’s preparations in the area, to allow the troops to stay there in the difficult weather conditions,” Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a statement Friday.’
But Israel aided HTS in overthrowing Syria, why the need to maintain a defensive position therefore, especially on Mount Hermon which, as I spoke about in a video the other day, lends Israel a very convenient pathway into Lebanon to invade again without having to deal with the less advantageous terrain and the pesky details of UN resolution 1701 or UNIFIL peacekeepers. It strikes me that this is more Israel’s plan, that Israel still plan to utilise their position to invade Lebanon and if Syria get in their way, new administration or not, then they are going to have a problem with that.
Should HTS choose to move more militarily on Israel over their actions should they not budge and let’s face it, when do they ever do what they’re told, no doubt the US will come running to their aid as Israel ends up opening up war on another front, because I simply can’t see HTS tolerating this, or, as fledgling a power as they currently are, can’t be seen as too weak to deal with it either.
I did ponder initially if HTS were just an ends to a means for Israel, but given what they’ve done without any retaliation thusfar, it seemed they were staunch allies, but then you wonder whether the media are leaving that idea in your head, until it becomes obvious it isn’t the case and at that point I’m sure the Al-Qaeda leftovers that HTS are, will be pointed to in just those terms by the mainstream media as a convenience to provide cover for Israel again. It may all be part of the plan, Greater Israel and all of that, pushing to Damascus and beyond, maybe HTS were just a handy tool to disrupt Iran in the short term, but are just tomorrows enemy for a genocidal regime hell bent on wide war and conquest right now. Please do let me know your thoughts in the comments on this.
Meanwhile the strategic importance of Mount Hermon was what I drew attention too and the possibilities this opens up with regards to Lebanon for Israel in this video recommendation here as your suggested next watch. Cheers folks.
