The renowned hot pepper from Sikkim is the Dalle Khursani, also known as the red cherry pepper. Cultivated primarily in Sikkim, as well as in Bhutan, Nepal, and the Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts of West Bengal, this chili is celebrated for its intense heat and distinctive flavor. Its Scoville Heat Units (SHU) range between 100,000 and 350,000, placing it on par with the Habanero chili pepper.

The name "Dalle Khursani" translates to "round chilies" in Nepali, aptly describing its small, spherical appearance. In local cuisines, it's commonly used in pickles, chutneys, and as a spicy accompaniment to various dishes. Beyond its culinary uses, Dalle Khursani is rich in vitamins A, C, and E, offering notable health benefits.

In 2020, India's Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade granted the Geographic Indication (GI) tag to Dalle Khursani, recognizing its unique origin and significance to Sikkim.
