A last minute name change from Night of the Flesh Eaters to Night of the Living Dead ended up deleting the copyright notice and making the film public domain. This happy mistake likely contributed to the film becoming a great cult classic, as it allows the original film to be freely traded, modified, remade, revised, and so on (making it possibly the most remade movie of all time).
