The end of the Assad regime in Syria. What does it mean for Iran? Bashar al-Assad was more than a safe bet for the mullahs. Syria made it possible for Iran to project power via proxies. Tehran could always send weapons directly to Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon. It played a strategic role in what is called Iran's axis of resistance. Today's Iran Supreme Leader spoke for the first time about the rebel offensive that ended decades of dictatorship in Syria. And, no surprise, he put the blame on Israel and the US.
