Israel Says that its Troops Will Stay in Syria Until All Objectives are Met

Israeli troops have advanced in Syria after capturing the demilitarised zone of the Golan Heights. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that there is a need to prevent terrorist activity from Syria. Meanwhile, the new interim government of Syria has vowed to institute the "rule of law" in the country. It will also suspend the current constitution and parliament for a period of three months during the transition. A Syrian official stated that a judicial and human rights committee will be formed to examine the constitution and propose amendments. A meeting between rebel government members and former government officials is scheduled for December 17. The interim government has also expressed its readiness to cooperate with the US in finding citizens who disappeared under the ousted president Bashar al-Assad’s regime. The G7 nations will hold virtual discussions on December 13 regarding the ongoing changes in Syria. Jordan will also host a summit on Syria's crisis on December 17, bringing together diplomats from the US, EU, Turkey, and Arab nations. The UN Secretary-General has expressed concern over the Israeli strikes currently underway in Syria and has called for de-escalation
