Both urination and defecation are sources of ritual impurity according to shariah (Islamic Law), and the improper methods of doing both may even doom one to the Hell Fire. As such the Islamic tradition has much to say about how, when, and where a person does pooping and peeing, as well as how they are to clean themselves afterwards.
