HEADBANGERS BALL - EP 85 - "Steak and Lobster..."

What’s goin on, Headbangers! Happy New Year from the Veterans of Hill 30! Here we are into 2025! Going into the new year, there are format changes to the show you’ll dig; we’re bringing in a new sponsor, we’ll be adding them to the show soon once that deal is closed, and we’re moving to a new time slot. Fridays at Noon. We want to hit that afternoon commute crowd!

This week’s show was inspired by the 1996 Snowboarding movie “Steak and Lobster”. After a long talk with my Brothers in Arms whom I served with and still stay in touch with today, we got to talking about our snowboarding adventures while stationed in Germany on the weekends and MWR Trips. Man, Headbangers, it was a time. Awesome road trips, great dinners, the party before a 0400 (4 a.m.) wake up call to be the first on the lifts at 0800 (8 a.m.) Just like the guys and gals who inspired us to become the Hucksters we were.

I mean, dig this. Look at this all-star line up (if you’ve not watched the movie) of snowboarding superstars of our day. Sidenote < You’ve gotta remember, this was at the time when the internet was in its infancy!

The days of Snowboarder magazine, Transworld Snowboarding, Blunt Snowboard Magazine, and hanging out on the slopes was our social media back then! Yet I digress! We loved these snowboarders in "Steak and Lobster" in the film. Look at this talent! You might recognize them: Kevin Jones, John Sommers, Jimmy Halapoff, Jason Brown, Chris Roach, Todd Richards, Jesse Hyvari, John Cardiel, Tina Basich, among others.

We added songs from the soundtrack to Episode 85. These songs are gonna take you back, man. We promise! Back when we were in our 20s, young, Spartan-Like, indestructible, bullet-proof!

And when I close my eyes and think back to those days, my brain lights up like a Starlight Flare and the movie of my memories starts. You’re gonna have a great time watching this show, folks.
