Amari Hall, an 8-year-old girl reported missing between midnight and 1:00 a.m. on November 20th, in Gwinnett County, Georgia, has been found dead after a heartbreaking sequence of events. Her mother, Brittany Hall, and her mother's partner, Celeste Owens, have been arrested in connection with her death. Amari was found deceased early on November 23rd, in a wooded area near the Stone Mill Trace neighborhood in Cobb County, hours after Hall’s arrest. The mother was already in custody on unrelated charges, while Owens faces murder charges related to Amari's death.
Both Hall and Owens are facing multiple charges, including child cruelty for past abuse incidents. In July, video footage showed Hall physically abusing her three children, including slapping, punching, and kicking them. Owens is also accused of assaulting the children, including hitting Amari in the head on November 19th, leading to her tragic death. The body of the young girl was later concealed in trash bags and dumped in a wooded area.
The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) has been involved in the case, with previous unsubstantiated investigations from 2015 and 2017 and a 2021 report. Amari’s two younger siblings are now in the care of DFCS.
This case highlights the horrifying abuse and neglect Amari endured, resulting in her untimely death. Law enforcement is continuing their investigation, and the mother and her partner are facing justice for their actions.
