On December 9, 2024, Michael Lee Murray, 35, purchased a car from Tim Dahle Mazda Southtowne in Sandy, Utah. Hours later, he returned to the dealership, claiming the car—a Subaru Outback—was defective and demanded a refund. The dealership refused, stating the vehicle was sold "as is" and could not be returned.

Murray became visibly frustrated, allegedly warning the staff that if they did not return his money, he would drive the car through the dealership's front doors. True to his word, he left the building, got into the car, and smashed it through the glass doors, causing extensive damage.

The crash left the front entrance shattered and pushed the doors into the dealership’s showroom, where another vehicle sustained damage. The incident caused an estimated $10,000 in damages.

Following the crash, Murray was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail. He faces charges of criminal mischief, reckless endangerment.
