In love with the sea

On the beach, our attempt remained,
where the waves whispered secrets untamed,
and the sun painted a moment, unnamed,
that we dreamed eternal, yet fleetingly framed.

Your laughter was foam dancing on the shore,
my yearning, the echo of a sea’s gentle roar,
but the wind, a traitor, changed its watchful lore,
and left us alone with a truth to ignore.

We built castles of sand and of desire,
fragile dreams the water would soon retire,
and though your eyes shone with tender fire,
time willed us close, then broke the entire.

I sought you in stars, in each rolling wave,
but the horizon its embrace forbade;
thus, our love remained in a shell engraved,
a lost song the sea quietly laid.
