US President-elect Donald Trump suggested that Mexico and Canada should become US states to escape his brutal tariffs. In a recent interview, Trump ranted about the trade deficits Washington is recording due to a free trade deal with Mexico and Canada. In a social media post, he mocked Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as the "governor" of the "Great State of Canada." This comes days after the Republican threatened to impose a 25% tariff on all Canadian and Mexican products. However, at the time, Trump's reasoning was not a trade imbalance but the problem of fentanyl and migrants illegally coming into the US. Following the threat, Trudeau rushed to Florida to dine with Trump and discuss taxes. Meanwhile, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum vowed to crack down on illegal immigration.
