Mohammed al-Bashir Becomes Caretaker PM For Syria’s Transitional Government Till March 2025

Senior Syrian rebel Mohammed al-Bashir has been appointed as the transitional head of the new government to lead the country until March 1. In his first statements, he emphasised the need for "stability and calm" in Syria. The announcement comes just days after the ouster of former President Bashar al-Assad. Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Ryabkov, has confirmed that Assad is being hosted by Russia. Rebel leader Abu Mohammed Al-Jolani stated in an interview that Syria is exhausted from wars and that the new regime will ensure that there must not be another war in the country. Meanwhile, Syrian rebels have seized control of Deir Ezzor city in the eastern region. The Israel Defense Forces have continued their strikes in Syria, launching nearly 500 attacks over a 48-hour period. Also, the White House has announced that the G7 nations will meet on December 13 to discuss the volatile situation in Syria.
