Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, inspired itself by the works of Shakespeare, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Washington Irving among the most prominent, has inspired an untold number of adaptations. Most have been faithful, or at least tried to be, reproductions, and a few have been retellings, like Scrooged.
