White Women Can't Wear Braids? - This Debate Is Nonsense

Cultural appropriation is a buzzword designed to divide us, and the debate over white women wearing braids is pure nonsense. Let’s be honest, hairstyles are NOT owned by any single culture. Braids have existed across civilisations for thousands of years from Egyptian mummies to Native Americans, Greeks to Chinese cultures.

This isn’t about respect; it’s about controlling public behaviour. Why should anyone be told what they can or can’t do with their own hair? The real issue isn’t who wears braids, but the systemic barriers that actually harm Black women’s opportunities. When we obsess over hairstyles, we distract from genuine conversations about inequality.
