Taiji Japan - About 50 Bottlenose Dolphins Driven Into The Cove

Monday December 9, 2024: Formation was confirmed about 45 minutes after hunters left the harbor.
Soon after, they set up the nets in the back of the Cove. They are for sorting. So early on, Kunito was able to guess that the pod might be Bottlenose dolphins. They must have definitely intended to drive them into the cove.
When Kunito confirmed the formation, the pod had divided into 4 groups. One managed to escape, but another was driven into the cove in roughly 2 hours. The remaining 2 groups were combined into one along the way and ultimately were also driven into the cove. In total, there were about 40 to 50 of them. The latter group included at least one calf.
One by one, more than 20 were caught by divers (hunters’ assistants) and taken under tarps to be selected by trainers. On the way, there was one painted white.
As a result, a total of 7 were captured alive as captives, and 4 were taken to Taiji harbor and 3 to Moriura Bay. And then 5 were slaughtered and all the rest of them were released — also the small one.
I pray that they survive safely and never get close to Taiji again.

出港から約45分で確認されたフォーメーション。
ほどなく彼らはコーヴの奥に網を張った。それは選別のためのものだ。それで早期に、その群れがバンドウイルカかもしれないと推測することができた。彼らは絶対にコーヴへ追い込む意気込みだったに違いない。
フォーメーションを確認した時、群れは4つのグループに分かれていた。1つは逃げたが、1つは2時間ほどでコーヴへ追い込まれてしまった。その後、他の2つは途中で1つにまとめられ結局彼らもコーヴへ追い込まれてしまった。そこには幼い子どもが含まれていた。
合わせて40-50頭ぐらいだろうと見込まれた。
20数頭が次々とダイバー(猟師のアシスタント)に羽交締めにされて捕まり、タープの下へ連れ込まれトレーナーによる選別にかけられた。途中、白くペイントされた1頭がいた。
その結果、計7頭が生け捕りにされ、4頭は太地港へ、3頭は森浦湾へ運ばれた。そして5頭が屠殺され、残った全頭がリリースされた。幼い子もすべて。
彼らが無事に生き抜き、二度と太地へ近づかないことを祈る。
