#346 | Subway Chokehold Case Resolved! & Arrest Made in the CEO Killing! | The Political Spotlight

A lot of 🚨 #breakingnews occurred today (Monday, December 09, 2024); therefore, Host Kristopher H. Bilbrey thought covering the big stories of the day with his commentary was essential.

But before getting to the national coverage, Bilbrey gives a quick update on the Anderson, Indiana, police officer who was charged with crimes of a sexual nature against juveniles on November 25, 2024. The Anderson Police and Fire - Public Safety Board met at 4 p.m. today, and with the recommendation of the Chief of Police, they voted 3-0 to move forward with the officer's termination! Bilbrey discusses what comes next and, again, gives his thoughts on cases like this!

Moving on, Bilbrey showed a quick clip of the New Castle, Indiana City Council meeting from their most recent December 2024 meeting. The clip rubs Bilbrey the wrong way because of what the Mayor of New Castle told the Council and how the Council then appeared to act because of it. Bilbrey makes it clear that he is not sure of the full context of the clip, but he does not like what the mayor says. Bilbrey will have to follow up with sources about this situation.

Next up, Bilbrey gives his thoughts on the criminal prosecution of Daniel Penny that wrapped up in New York today, when the jurors acquitted Penny (FOUND HIM NOT GUILTY) of "criminally negligent homicide" in the chokehold death of Jordan Neely, a 30-year-old (black) homeless man with a history of mental illness whose final moments on a New York City subway train were captured on bystander video that set off weeks of protests and drew national attention in May of 2023.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office charged Penny, a 26-year-old (white) Marine veteran, with two counts resulting from the incident. Count 1: Secon-Degree Manslaughter. & Count 2: Criminally Negligent Homicide. Penny pled NOT GUILTY to both counts. The trial began in October 2024, and after both sides presented their cases, the jury deliberated for four days before informing the judge on Friday, December 06, 2024, that they were deadlocked. The prosecutors and judge agreed to dismiss the more serious charge of Manslaughter and then sent the jury back to deliberate more. The decision came on the fifth day of deliberations, Monday, December 09, 2024. The jury, made up of 7 women and 5 men, found Penny NOT GUILTY of Criminally Negligent Homicide.

Lastly, Bilbrey wraps up by discussing the ever-evolving and updating story of the murder of Brian Thompson, the CEO of United Healthcare Insurance, on Wednesday, December 04, 2024. The suspect has been on the run since the shooting at 644 a.m. on the fourth. However, at 915 a.m., police in Altoona, Pennsylvania, were dispatched to a McDonald's to respond to reports of a male matching the description of the suspect in the shooting. At that time, they take into custody a "STRONG Person of Interest" in Thompson's murder.

26-year-old Luigi Nicholas Mangione was taken into custody by the Police in Altoona, PA. Mangione was charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm, Forgery, and Providing False Identification. He is currently in jail in Pennsylvania. Mangione has also been charged in Manhattan with Second-Degree Murder, 3 Gun Charges, and Forgery.

But with all this coming out, minute by minute, some question if this all sounds "MANUFACTURED!" In many situations like this, it's hard for people to trust the media and the government! So what's the truth and what's not? Time will tell!
