Oak Hill Church of Christ preaching minister, Randy Sterling, delivers a message on the importance of remembering God's love for us through the sending of His Son, Jesus.

Without any background knowledge on God, if you were told that He was going to send His Son into the world, you would rightly assume that He would do it with great pomp and grandeur. His Son would descend from a pillar of light surrounded by an army of angels in gleaming white armor. Trumpets would sound, and the beautiful, perfect figure of a man would appear. His hair, long and flowing, lit by a holy light. His eyes, sparkling and intense. His body, statuesque and ideal. He would appear in front of the most powerful and wealthiest people in the world. He would have everything, and still more would be brought to him.

That would be the Christmas story, if a human wrote it.

Because, God wrote it.

Jesus came into the world humbly, to humble people, in a humble place. The message was delivered to equally humble people. Jesus came to the earth through a woman, Mary. He was born in a place normally used for keeping animals.

Why?

Because that's how God sees each of us when Jesus prepares himself to enter our hearts. Neither Jesus nor God concern themselves with humble origins, because their power has nothing to do with optics and everything to do with competence.

The message God gives to you this Christmas season is that God has no problem coming into your heart, humble and dirty and broken as it is; He knows His Son is going to make it perfect. Don't be afraid to invite him in and experience the hope that comes from the Son of God being born into your heart.
