(Pride, Worth and Thankfulness)

Text: Luke 7:1-10

Objective: that the brethren may avoid altogether being prideful
but rather be thankful to the Lord in everything

Intro:
Define – Pride, proud, humility, worth/iness
Previous series in pride and humility – but now different focus
Bible verses – proud/pride, thankful/ness, worth/iness

How to Eliminate this “I am proud of my” mentality:
1) Realize the Fact that opportunities can be very limited – v.1
a) Talent, resources, nationality, etc.
2) Realize the Fact that troubles can and will come – v.2
a) Sickness, death, bankruptcy, etc.
3) Realize the Fact that you need help from others – v.3
a) Friends, servants
4) Realize the Fact that our worthiness will be measured by others – vv.4-5
a) By people, but ultimately by the Lord
5) Realize the Fact that we can overcome this wrong self-worth attitude – vv. 6-8
a) We should consider proper authority and what that means for us and everybody else
6) Realize the worth of Faith in our worth – v. 9
7) Realize the power and our worth ultimately is determined by the all-powerful Lord – v.10

Message/conclusion:

Let us avoid altogether being prideful but rather be thankful to the Lord in everything
